On the Sox, am I alone in not seeing this season as an epic
collapse? Look how we started in April (11-15 for those that can't remember).
A horrible September was totally possible. The same guys that were so out of
shape that they weren't ready for the start of the season, should also be
expected to be the same guys that weren't in shape for the very long haul of a
baseball season.
This team, even if they won last night, would have been 91-71. I don't expect great things from something that wins 56% of the time. I expect great things when you are crushing the competition. 56% is not intimidating. Yeah, I can hope for some good things, but not expect them. They were the 4th worse team in the last 10 years. And they are certainly better than some of the teams fielded in the 1990's.

I still define an epic collapse in sports as the 2007
Patriots, 1986 Red Sox, or the 2004 Yankees, teams that look destined to win
everything. Even 2003 hurt more than this team did. Epic collapse? No.
Overhyped? Overpaid? Yes on both counts.
