A Killer Asian Food Court

DSC_0328

While there is food available at Ngong Ping Village, it seemed too much like the Epcot version of a Chinese village for me.  At the Tung Chung station there is a large mall and in Asia large mall = large food court.  And this food court didn’t disappoint.

I certainly wasn’t helped by the fact of being extremely hungry at this point.  The entire food court was devoted to Asian cuisine with no chains, Western or Eastern, in sight.  At the front of the food court when you enter is a fruit juice stand that offers all kinds of different juices and smoothies.  You can see a little bit of the fresh fruit on display in the smaller picture above on the left.

For Chinese food, there was a Macanese stall, Hainanese stall (with pretty good chicken and rice since that is what I ate), dim sum station, BBQ with roast pork and goose, Shanghainese stall with xiaolongbao (see lower right), along with a congee, rice bowls, and noodle stalls.

In addition to all of the Chinese options, there were other stands for Asian food such as Indian, Vietnamese, Thai, two Japanese places (sushi and teppanyaki), and one simply called “Steak Cuisine”.  All of it looked good and every stand was very busy, so something must be going right.
